Gluten Intolerance and Migraines – Is There a Connection?

Migraine sufferers commonly visit a doctor and walk away without answers as to the origin of their headache. Instead, they receive a medication to control the pain. The problem is, these medicines can have horrendous side effects, can be addictive, don’t actually solve the cause of the headache. (See the Prescription Pain Trap for more on this…) Hailey’s story is another example of how traditional medicine has failed so many. Her migraines, fatigue, blurry vision, and other symptoms were not resolved with prescription medications. However; going TRUE gluten free along with nutritional supplementation led to complete remission of her symptoms. Thank you Hailey for allowing Gluten Free Society to share your story!

IF You Have Migraine Headaches, Do This First

  • Stop eating gluten.
  • Rule out additional food triggers for the headache – Common triggers are chocolate, caffeine, alcohol, cheese and other dairy products, wine, processed lunch meats and artificial sweeteners like Nutrasweet (aspartame). You can find this information out by having your doctor run a delayed hypersensitivity food allergy test. (More on this here <<<)
  • Get tested for vitamin and mineral deficiencies – Vitamin B2, B-12, magnesium, and CoQ10 are a few nutrients that when deficient can trigger migraine headaches.
  • Avoid the use of perfumes and scented soaps – many of the chemicals in these items can trigger migraines directly.
  • Visit a chiropractor – Many headaches begin with structural problems in the spine as well as muscular dysfunction. A reputable chiropractor should be able to help you determine these types of problems.
