The Impact of Gluten on Children

Common Symptoms in Children With Gluten Sensitivity

  • Growing pains
  • Colic
  • Reflux
  • Stomach pain
  • Chronic ear infections
  • Hyperfollicular keratosis (skin bumps on the back of the arms)
  • Failure to thrive (FTT)
  • Growth stunting
  • Short stature
  • Constipation
  • Autism
  • Diarrhea
  • ADD/ADHD symptoms
  • Spontaneous nose bleeding
  • Severe allergies (hyper allergic syndrome)
There are more listed in the video. If your child has any of the above conditions consider gluten as the potential threat to their health.

Testing Your Child For Gluten Sensitivity

If you take you child to the pediatrician to test for gluten intolerance, make sure they perform the appropriate lab testing. Blood testing and intestinal biopsy are flawed tests that often times come back falsely negative. Ask the doctor to perform genetic testing.   1. I’d add extra MAGNESIUM – this helps my daughter (GF 2 2/3 years now) if she takes one as soon as she notices a headache coming on! She’s also removed other allergens from her diet (we’re gluten intolerant, she is also allergic to peanuts, almonds, sesame, egg yolks, etc)

    And MASSAGE! As a Massage therapist, for almost 30 years I’ve helped people with tension related headaches feel better fast! These days I often mention symptoms that may be gluten linked, & love your self-test!

  2. Hmm – that info was supposed to go on the page about Gluten & Migraines!! Ah, well, massage & Magnesium are great for kids as well!! (120 mg for grade school kids 🙂
