The Gluten Hydra, Hormones, & The Medical Trap

Author of Glutenology, Dr. Peter Osborne, breaks down hormone imbalances caused by gluten intolerance, the medical trap that you don’t want to be stuck in, and why… >>watch the rest of the video here <<

The Problem With the Medical Paridigm –

Unfortunately, many doctors specializing in hormone treatment do not consider gluten sensitivity when making a diagnosis. The common mentality is: “You have _____ disease (fill in the blank with your choice below). We don’t know what causes it, but the solution is this prescription.”

Gluten Disrupts Hormones

Gluten is a known hormone disruptor. Grain seeds are sprayed with hormone to enhance growth. These hormones interfere with your hormones. The pesticide, fungicide, and herbicide chemicals that grains are sprayed with are also hormone disruptors. This is not rocket science. One only has to investigate the origin of his/her food to discover these facts. The big question is why doesn’t your doctor know this? Why does he/she constantly ignore food quality, allergens, and intolerances as a part of a standard medical work up? The answer – Nutrition is not taught in medical school, and your doctor does not want to look foolish.

  1. I had an endocronologist, a gastroenterologist, and an internal medicine doctor. Not one of them could properly diagnose me, even after numerous unnecessary surgeries. Thank God I found Dr. Osborne, who properly diagnosed me on the first visit! He saved my life!

  2. The GREAT news is that every person can choose to eat exactly what they want to! We don’t need a doctor or anyone else to make a decision about what we put in our mouths. It is common sense that what we eat (put into our bodies) could be either beneficial or harmful. By being close minded and arrogant, doctors and other medical professionals are actually harming their patients….this is unfortunate and wrong. Regardless of what ANY doctor may tell us, my family eats gluten-free and that’s that!

  3. After months of abdominal pain, outrageous bloating, fatigue IBS symptoms, and unexplained weight GAIN, I went to my GP who ordered blood work and an ultrasound. With those results, she said there was nothing wrong based on those results. She followed with,” I would like you to eliminate wheat from your diet, then soy, then casein. Literally, in three days, there was significant progress. In nine, days I had lost eight pounds and am now three weeks into a GF diet. I am also keeping most other carbs our of my diet because of my candida allergy. I have found that keeping a food diary has been very helpful because I need to be able to recall what may be causing discomfort. Just happy to feel better for the first time in over six months.

  4. I was told for years that I was “just sickly”. I was given a myriad different medications for allergies, bronchitis, hormonal imbalances, and every other illness that plagued me. I was generally tired and never felt healthy, despite eating a healthful diet. I was also subjected to unnecessary yearly surgeries. When I cut wheat and gluten out of my diet, I almost immediately stopped getting sick. A hormone-related “chronic” auto-immune illness disappeared. I slept through the night. Threw away my inhaler. Stopped taking medicine. Amazing. I have a deep resentment now for Western medicine for putting me through so many years of misery when all I needed was a simple diet change.

  5. *Also: The last doctor I went to before an acupuncturist suggested an elimination diet told me the problem was mental and that I needed to go to a therapist. I wonder how many other people are being told this.

In response to Denise’s comment – most people have no idea that the “whole grain” bread they’re eating isn’t healthy. People like you and me probably spend an inordinate amount of time researching food and how it affects the body, but most people have been told their whole lives that wheat products are healthy, and don’t know enough about nutrition to do their own research. Gluten-free is also one of those terms that seems to spark resistance in people who think it’s some sort of “hippie” thing or fad diet.

  6. First I went gluten-free March 2011 after being tested positive for wheat. Migraines continued. I went grain-free approximately a year ago (in everything: supplements, skincare products, cosmetics). Migraines continued. My dr removed dairy in August. Migraines and hypertension PLUS adrenal fatigue continue. I have bronchiectasis and attend pulmonary rehab 2 days/wk. and also use my teadmill other days when I’m not TOO exhausted. I can’t lose weight. Yet my husband went grain-free 5 months ago and dropped 25 lbs. I will be tested for MTHFR, having many of those symptoms. A ENT dr last wk told me to eat anything I want since restricting these food groups religiously has had no apparent effect. (I didn’t take his advice.) I was referred to him because I con’t to get one sinus infection after another and have had LOTS of Augmentin in the past almost two yrs. (I take a lot of probiotics.) I’ve also been on Prednisone twice. My voice comes and goes all the time and I can no longer sing in our church choir, which I really miss. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! AB

  7. I just visited my cardiologist. I asked if my hight blood pressure medications had grains in them. He didn’t know and wasn’t willing to find out. He said I could go to the pharmacist and ask for a list of medications that would comply with my requirements and he would look at it. The pharmacist said that “starch” was listed as “other ingredients” on my medication and that it was listed on most of them. I got exactly nowhere.

  8. @ Annette Baker: Have you had your immune levels checked? You appear to have alot of the same symptoms I have. I have Common Variable Immune Difficiceny along with Gluten sensitivity. Alot of Doctor don’t test immune levels but when doctors are pushed for this test more and more people are being diagnosed… Just a thought..
