Sugar contributes to a wide array of health issues. Unfortunately, it has been presented to us by advertisers to be such an innocent food to enjoy at celebrations and holidays but the over consumption of it is quickly destroying the health of this country. And it’s not that soda here or there, it’s the fact that the average American consumes 155 lbs of sugar EVERY YEAR!

The Toxic Effects of Sugar are Well Known But Often Ignored
Many who study the effects of sugar on the body, call it toxic and poisonous and they also call it ‘Skeleton Powder’ because it leaches calcium out of the bones and makes them brittle, contributing to osteoporosis. I know it may seem extreme to call sugar toxic and poisonous but when you look up the definition of the word poison, it doesn’t seem extreme at all:
Poison: a substance with an inherent property that tends to destroy life or impair health.
Sugar has been PROVEN to destroy life and impair health. Over consumption of this poison has been linked to low energy, mood swings, hot flashes, restless sleep, migraines, anxiety, depression, mental fogginess, feeling out of control, inflamed gum disease, cavities in the teeth, aches and pains in the joints….just to name a few.
These are really just the symptoms that people will typically feel when they consume too much sugar. These are all red flags that your body is trying to tell you something is wrong. When these red flags get ignored they can turn into full blown health conditions like heart disease, cancer, diabetes, arthritis and osteoporosis.
These are the main diseases in America and around the world, in countries who consume a lot of sugar and white processed flour. Countries that do not consume these foods, these diseases are virtually unheard of in their culture. 1 out of 2 people in America DIE of heart disease! 1 out of 3 DIE of cancer!
Unfortunately it has been known for many years that cancer feeds off sugar and gets stronger. The other concern is that sugar highly suppresses your immune system which means you can get sick easier and have a harder time fighting off a current disease that you may have.
The other concern about excess sugar is that it increases chronic inflammation dramatically in the body. And most health professionals believe that excess inflammation is a root to practically every major disease the human body deals with.
Sugar Addiction Quiz
The goal is to really understand what sugar is and what is doing to our bodies. And if we don’t do something about it, how is it going to affect you 10 to 30 years down the road? It would also be important to really ask yourself if you have a sugar addiction or not.
A great way to find out is to
take this quiz .
YOU get to decide if you are addicted to sugar or not. No one else can you tell you, so take a minute to take
‘The Quiz’ and find out if you really are addicted sugar.

One Response
Advising people not to eat sugar is not an “agenda” nor is it “faddist”. Sugar rots teeth, it is acidic and it is widely known that it is far healthier to maintain an alkaline ph in our body. Cancer grows in acidic ph and sugar is highly acidic. 33% of Americans are overweight and diabetes is an epidemic in our nation. I would like to hear from you what benefits are gained by eating sugar.
It is non-nutritive without any food value except empty calories.
BTW, when did proteinaceous become a word?
What is your motive on a gluten free website stating you plan to eat fried gluten from the Asian store drenched in gluten based teriyaki sauce?
Are you seeking conflict and just trying to be provoke the folks on this website who are actually health conscious?
Go ahead and eat gluten and sugar to your heart’s content, but please refrain from criticizing others and to encourage us to eat food which causes them severe health problems. I don’t eat sugar because of candida albicans. I avoid gluten due to health concerns. Does that make me a “faddist with an agenda” or a Food Nazi? i don’t smoke or drink alcohol either – does that mean I’m a goody-goody?
I’ve been sugar free and 100% organic, plant based diet since I was 15 years old. I’m 57 and medication free, no serious health problems, never get sick except maybe once every 3 – 5 years I might get a cold or the flu. Great bone density, my LDL – HDL and blood pressure is perfect! My primary care doctor told me in 30 years of medical practice, I’m the healthiest patient he’s ever met!
I have plenty of energy and no aches or pains. Being mindful about what I eat has paid off. I’m 57 year old but easily pass for late 30’s. Halloween night a 22 year old guy asked me out on a date! I turned him down, since when I go fishing I throw the little minnows back – but it was flattering to hear he thought I was much younger than I really am. Although I’m 57 I barely have any wrinkles and my diet is primarily the reason why!
