Patience is a big big part of the healing process. You have to understand that if you’re not in shape physically, if your body is under muscled, it doesn’t matter whether you’re overweight or underweight. If your body is under muscled it didn’t get there overnight and it’s not going to fix overnight. You’ve got to give it the time it takes time to build lean mass. It takes consistency, energy, effort, and strategy to get there.
Think of sleep as your body’s ability to heal and repair. It’s the time where you recover. Remember the longer you go with with lack of sleep your body’s natural tendency is to try to compensate with that stress of lost sleep by producing the stress hormone cortisol. Remember cortisol elevates blood sugar and cortisol also has a feedback system that that keeps you awake and makes your sleep less sound…so so it’s a vicious cycle once it gets started. You’ve got to really prioritize sleep.
In regards to our diet, just like with with all things we want balance and so what we’re after is a third of our calories via fat, a third via carbs, and a third via protein in terms of your total calorie intake. Now you don’t have to be perfect – so you know one day you might get 40 of your calories from protein, another day you might get 40 from carbs, another day you might get 40 from fat…so it’s not going to be a perfect third. You don’t want create a mental distress over whether or not you hit it at a perfect 33.33 percent. This is a general guideline and the general rule you want to try to keep a semblance of balance in your macronutrients.
