I have a friend that is in serious need of some testing. What specific tests should she ask for when going to the Doctor. She has hypothyroidism and only weighs 97lbs. I don't know the specifics but bowel problems. She said she has to take pig enzyme pills with all of her meals and snacks or she gets really sick. I suggested she get tested for Celiac disease and gluten sensitivity. Dr. O I was wondering if you could give me a list of specific tests she should ask her Dr. to give her? She is also having trouble sleeping.

    Start with these:

Test for delayed and acute food allergies.  Test for nutritional deficiencies (Spectracell labs).  Test for intestinal infection.  Test HLA-DQ genes for gluten sensitivity (celiac testing is a waste of time).  Iodine loading test.  25 OH D test.

Thank you so much, I gave her this information.
