I found out that I had gluten and corn allergies almost 2 years ago. I struggled with trying to figure out how to live. I found this website and have been a member for quite awhile. I thought I was doing ok, until I went in for a CT in April for abdominal pain. At that time I found out my colon was completely full, which explains the feeling of inflammation below my rib cage. My MD told me to take Miralax 4 x’s per day for 3 weeks, then every night, which I did, hoping to clean the bowels out. I do NOT want to be on laxatives the rest of my life!! I had another CT last week about 8 weeks after the first, for complications from surgery, only to find out they are STILL full, COMPLETELY FULL! I am not sure what to do now. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.Cry

    Hi Stephanie,

A bettter alternative to help with bowel movements is GI Restore – http://www.glutenfreesociety.org/product/gi-restore/

It is not a solution, but should help you get off of Miralax.

You need to be tested for hidden food allergens.  You also need to be tested for the possibility of GI infection.  These problems often keep a person from normal bowel regulation.  Additionally, if you are on medications, check them for potential GI side effects.  These can be extremely common.

    All the best,

    Dr. OSmile
