Dr. Osborne posted a few weeks ago about the long term effects of having one’s gall bladder removed. My gall bladder was removed before I was dx’d with celiac disease (there were no gall stones, it simply quit functioning). As I recall, he mentioned that without a gallbladder one may not be able to digest fats properly and recommended taking Max Digest. How often should I take Max Digest? With every meal? Once a day?
I’m wondering if my chronic dry, flaking skin might be linked to poor fat absorption and Max Digest would help?
Thank you for your help.
Susan, I think before every meal is what is suggested on the bottle. That’s what I do (although I have not had my gall bladder out, I am battling malabsorption). I can’t imagine there would be any harm in trying it, other than the expense.
Thanks, Jackie. I hope your absorbing improves. Have you noticed a difference since taking the Max Digest with every meal? As you say, it is an expense, so I don’t want to have to take it every meal if I don’t have to.
Yes, I actually did notice improvements when I starting taking it. I had a test done that showed I was lacking pancreatic enzymes so I was basically unable to digest without the supplement, so that is how I’ve always taken it (with every meal). I think Dr. O said he just takes it when he eats out though, not for sure on that, maybe he can confirm.
Thanks again, Jackie. I’ve ordered a good supply so I can take it more often. Wish there were an autoship option or a discount for those of us who use it so much. Are you aware of anything like this? Thanks.
