Hi everyone, I'm two weeks in to having found out I'm Gluten Sensitive. I'm doing ok on this new diet….probably still making some mistakes, but the hardest thing is that I have to give up my absolute favorite comfort food – Blue Bell's Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream because it has corn syrup in it. I'm assuming that corn syrup is out due to gluten although I'm still learning. So its a bummer, but I'm determined to get my health back and keep it. I'm looking forward to the results of my food allergy testing and vitamin deficiency testing to start really getting on track with my health. As of being two weeks into this no gluten diet….my symptoms have actually gotten worse…but I understand that to be normal so I'm not worried…just not enjoying it at this time.

    Welcome Laura!

Your assumption is correct about the corn syrup.  Additionally, you should be worried about the diary sourced for making the ice cream.  Most of these animals are grain fed.  We know that gluten can pass into breast milk.  Read the article below:

    Have a great day!

    Hi Laura,

My comfort food was popcorn dripping with butter.  I had a little anxiety when I found out I needed to give that up.  But it was very short lived because I found that I really don't need comfort food all that much.  When I do, I nibble on a handful of organic sunflower seeds or walnuts.  It works for me.

I don't feel deprived at all.  I'm not really giving up anything.  I'm simply replacing unhealthy for healthy.  If anything, I'm gaining more food choices because I'm curious about new foods and willing to explore all my options.  I'm actually having a lot of fun with the grain free diet.

I hope you feel better soon.  I was very pleased with how fast I noticed changes in my health.

Hi Laura! I'm new to this site and new to GF eating. I lived in Sugar Land a little over 20 years ago when it was “out in the boondocks”. LOL

    Nice to meet you!
