My mild symptoms of fatigue, allergies, reflux, gas, and constipation have been with me my whole life. THIRTY YEARS AGO, I became hypothroid after my second child. Not being able to lose any weight after a year on medication, I went on a diet using common sense (gluten intolerance diets didn't exist back then), and ate NO grains, starches, dairy, or sugar. After 4 months I was well for the first time in my life. I was taken off thyroid medication a few years later. Kept my weight down for 30 years but got things like Candida, CFS, nail fungus/althlete's foot, and acid reflux eating small amounts of my forbidden foods throughout those years. Menopause came, and added more symptoms. Dehydration was a really bad problem, so I decided to add a bit more grains to my diet to hold the water in my system. It worked, but after 9 months of this, my symptoms escalated until I felt very ill for months, (in cycles though which is how intolerance works). Two weeks ago, I went back on my diet. My acid reflux STOPPED ON THE FIRST DAY OF THE DIET, no fatigue, moisture is trying to come back into my totally dried out nose, and my mucus drip is lessening. It will probably take a few months to get well. I need to have my nutrient levels tested for deficiencies, and check for other hidden food sensitivities. Testing and biopsy was negative, so I go with how I feel, not what the tests say. I'm doing well eating conventional protein sources, but if I find it's preventing 100% recovery, I'll have to find better sources of grass fed and wild fish locally to see if that makes a difference. I used to eat organic grass fed, etc., but it came frozen which made it get freezer burnt fast no matter how good I wrapped everything, and it didn't taste good because of that.
