I'm so happy to have found this site. I am hoping that becoming truly gluten-free will be the answer to my health issues. I have had hypothyroidism since 1990, but I didn't notice digestive issues until 2000. First, I stopped all white flour products and seemed to do better. Then, I stopped all wheat products and seemed to do better. I did cheat now and then, not really understanding the importance to my overall health. Now, my pituitary is no longer producing Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH), so my thyroid is producing no thyroid hormone on its own. I've got digestive issues, insomnia, fatigue, and had to go to a part-time schedule at work. I recently did a 30-day Leaky Gut diet (with RepairVite supplement) and that seemed to help, though I felt terribly deprived on that diet. I started eating rice again and got “glutened” at a Vietnamese restaurant. I thought maybe it was light soy sauce in their dipping sauce, but perhaps it was the rice! From now on, no more grains for me.
Anyway, I am looking forward to learning everything I need to know to be truly gluten-free, once and for all.
