I have been trying not to eat processed food, but I was starving when I was shopping (big mistake on my part) and I started reading labels on the potato chips and better made brand actually are cooked with palm oil or cottonseed oil, no corn or vegetable oil…  So I of course bought a bag and ate a few on the way home, then I sent them outside for the guys to eat…LOL.

I also found simply Heinz ketchup has no corn syrup in it and I tried it, it is very good.  Would work well to make BBQ sauce! 🙂

I do not eat anything with cottonseed oil.  Cotton crops do not require food grade pesticides.  I also cannot tolerate canola oil.  So if I am going to pick a treat while out shopping I have to really look to find something!!  I also have a lot of food allergies & cannot eat nuts.

Of course it is better to not be hungry when going to the store & just come home with one organic white potato & make a batch of homemade chips!  Fry them in homemade rendered fat & sprinkle on a little sea salt.  Now that is a treat!

Agreed.  It is always better to be hungry than to eat something damaging.  Thanks for the perspective!Smile

I agree also, I was just saying I was hungry and found something to tide me over that wasn’t as damaging as eating something in it that I shouldn’t have.  As I said I try not to eat processed food, but this isn’t a perfect world and occassionally things like this happen and we need to try and make the best choice for the moment.

I can’t eat night shade veggies and can’t tolerate canola oil but was craving something salty/crispy and ended up frying some thin yam slices in olive oil then spinkled sea salt on–it was tasty but probably not nutritious.

I LOVE sweet potato fries sprinkled with brown sugar!! Deee-lish!Laugh I also am staying away from nightshade veggies so it’s nice to have a substitute. I only treat myself to it once in awhile because it’s very starchy but it’s a good treat Smile
