    Help Dr. O!

    What does your diet typically consist of day after day, meal after meal?

    Breakfast? Lunch? Dinner?

    I’ve done ‘traditional’ gluten free but eliminating corn and rice has been most difficult! Yell I don’t know what to eat anymore? I feel like I’m eating the same thing over and over. Embarassed

    I would love to have an overview of what you eat throughout the day as a guideline for myself. Smile

    some of what I eat, hope it helps:

    Supper or lunch- I cook beef roast in crock pot and dump in a can of home canned tomatoes and every fresh veggie I like (including potatoes cut up small), let it simmer for awhile (it will thicken a little that way)

    tacos (seasoned with chili powder and cumin I just don’t have a shell eat them like a salad

    chicken stir fry(I don’t thicken, but I think you could find something to thicken it with I just haven experimented with that)

    steak and baked potato with lots of veggies

    shred potatoes and make has browns, I cook with extra virgin first cold pressed olive oil.

    I’m going to try making pancakes with almond flour

    hamburgers with no bun

    baked or grilled fish with veggies and sweet potato

    I also leave nuts or seed or dried fruit (read label) in my van so if I’m hungry and drive by a McDonalds I won’t stop I just munch on my snack.

    I use lots of home canned tomatoes and home canned salsa in stuff. (that way I am in control of ingredients)

    I buy all different kinds of fruit so I don’t get bored.  We go through fruit like crazy, but I don’t really spend any more money because I’m not buying bread, chips, candy, cookies and all that other crap!

    I really believe in the saying eat to live, not live to eat! Smile

     Hi Michelle, I think you read my mind!  I could’ve written this exact post myself, I feel the exact same way, like I’m eating the same things day after day just like you said.  I was wondering how a veteran to this grain-free way of living adds variety.  I can’t wait to see that cookbook Dr. O!  Laugh  In the mean time, which section of the video tutorials specifically refers to this subject?

    Lori pretty much summed up my food for the past few weeks since going grain free.  I was thinking that if I had 6-8 new recipes I’d be happy, then I could rotate and not get so burnt out on the same ol’ things.  I know: “eat to live”, it’s just hard getting used to, I’m coming along though.  My whole life to this point has so revolved around hunger that it’s a very big change to try to think this way.  I do find that I’m not as hungry as I used to be though so that helps.

    Maybe if we all posted our “usuals” we might gain one or two new things to add to our reporitoire (that’s for sure spelled wrong, sorryEmbarassed)….

    I have been having the same thing for breakfast every day for many months: apple slices dipped in peanut butter. 

    In addition to what Lori said for lunch/dinner, I was thinking chilli could definately be an option (unless you’re avoiding beans, but you could do bean-free with just tomatoes and other veggies I suppose).  We have this old classic in our family called “hamburger gravy”: you just brown burger with an onion, then add water and thicken, I used potato instead of corn starch and it was great.  Serve over mashed redskins, very filling.  Other options could be soups: such as bean soup, chicken soup, vegetable beef etc.  We did make our own potato chips the other night and that was pretty good, a different way to do potatoes anywayWink.  Does anyone else feel like they’re eating potatoes all the time and can that be a bad thing?

    Hi Jackie,


    Personally, I have quit eating all nightshade vegetables (potatoes, tomatoes, peppers & eggplants) because of my rheumatoid arthritis and the recommendation for quitting them. I have also read they are high in lectins and anyone with an autoimmune disease might want to try an elimination diet with foods high in toxic lectins and see if they feel better. I don’t think they effect everyone, hopefully Wink.


    So therefore I’m never eating potatoes or tomatoes which makes it even harder for me to find something different to eat! Yell I can have sweet potatoes (thank goodness! Smile) because they are apart of the marigold family. I have been avoiding beans/legumes too (and working on quitting soy completely) because they are one of the food groups that are high in lectins. I will see after a month if I can add beans back into my diet but I actually haven’t missed them that much.
