Smash Burgers

Servings 4 burgers


  • 1 1/2 pounds 85% lean grass fed ground beef
  • salt and pepper
  • avocado oil or other high heat oil
  • 8 slices plant based American cheese
  • 16 dill pickle slices
  • 4 Warrior Bread buns (see recipe link below)


  • Preheat a frying pan or griddle pan to high heat.
  • Split the meat into 8 equal parts and roll them into “meatball” shapes. Season the outside liberally with salt and pepper
  • Depending on the size of your pan you will need to do this in batches. Add a little oil to the pan and then put the meatballs in. Cook about 2 minutes. Roll the meatballs over so the browned dot is on top and press with your spatula to make the burger as flat as you possibly can. Cook another 2 minutes.
  • Flip the burgers and top each with a slice of cheese. Cover and cook 1 minute to help the cheese melt. Double up the patties right in the pan, then transfer the double stacks to the bottom burger bun.
  • Top with pickles and any condiments of choice and serve.
