What Causes Hypothyroid problems (low thyroid)? Chemicals Chemicals That Damage the Thyroid Gland are ubiquitous in our modern environment.

So pay attention if you want to protect your thyroid from damage. In this episode, I break down 4 more of the most common chemicals in the air, water, and food that can disrupt and inhibit healthy thyroid hormone function.

1. Nitrates – preservative found in processed meats
2. Triclosan – can be found in cosmetics
3. Mycotoxins – chemicals created by mold that have been shown to increase oxidative stress that can disrupt the capacity to properly produce and convert thyroid hormone and cause thyroid problems. It has also been shown to damage thyroid receptors.
4. Perchlorates – chemicals used in fuel and other propellants. This commonly gets into the water and contributes to hormone disfunction.

The best solution to avoid these chemicals is to filter your air and water as well as choose foods that do not contain them.
