the sad thing is, Gluten free can be inexpensive, but most of us have only been taught to cook with prepackaged foods and know nothing about buying fruits and veggies in season and meats on sale. I admit though the inexpensive way would be very boring and bland. When going through any kind of mental illness, is not a time someone would be likely to learn new things like cooking differently either. It is so sad. Just thinking outloud.
