  1. I have Hashimoto’s disease. The summer before I was diagnosed I had started running 2 times a day to try to lose the weight that I was rapidly gaining (about 2 lbs every week). I developed tremendous deep muscle pains (myopies) in my quads. I could barely walk. My twins were 2 at the time and if I had to run after them, as they were always going in different directions, it was like I was slamming a sledgehammer into my legs with every step. The day I finally got diagnosed, I found a great facebook page (Hashimotos 411) where the fantastic ladies told me to stop ALL GLUTEN asap. The pain was gone in 48 hrs. I kid you not. I had been suffering for months and in 2 days I was pain free. The weight gain also immediately stopped. The last year has been a long journey and thank goodness for the internet b/c my Endo has been zero help and she still stands by her stance that gluten has absolutely nothing to do w/ it. How frightening and sad, all her other patients are still suffering. Who knew that all those ‘healthy’ whole grains were making me so sick and fat.
